What is lead discovery?

Lead discovery lets you monitor social platforms for conversations where people are looking for something your product solves.

Mirgent scans Twitter and Reddit in real time based on the keywords you configure.

Setting up lead discovery

Configure your keywords and filters to get highly targeted results.

1

Go to Lead Discovery

Open the Lead Discovery section from the sidebar menu.

2

Add keyword groups

Create groups of keywords related to your product and pain points your customers mention.

3

Set filters

Filter by language, follower count, account age, and engagement level.

Twitter keyword monitoring

Mirgent monitors Twitter in near real-time. Matching tweets appear in your lead feed within minutes.

Tip

Use intent-based keywords to catch high-intent prospects.

Reddit scanning

Reddit is one of the highest-intent lead sources. Mirgent monitors subreddits and threads for your keywords.

You can configure which subreddits to include or exclude for each keyword group.

Engaging with leads

From the lead feed, click any result to open the original post and compose a reply using AI suggestions.

Important

Always provide genuine value in your replies. Spammy responses can get your account flagged.

Pitfalls that kill lead discovery ROI

The difference between lead discovery that works and lead discovery that wastes your time is almost always one of these four mistakes.

  • Keywords that are too broad. 'social media tool' returns 1000 noisy matches/day; 'best alternative to buffer' returns 2 high-quality matches/day. Specificity > volume. Start narrow, broaden only after you've exhausted close-match leads.
  • Replying to every lead with the same template. Platforms detect template-spam fast (especially Reddit). Mirgent's AI drafts are personalized per-thread for a reason — never reuse the same reply across multiple threads in the same week.
  • Ignoring the score floor. Lead Hunter ranks 0-100; below 60 is usually noise. Your time is better spent replying to 5 high-confidence leads than 30 medium-confidence ones. Adjust the score floor up if your reply quality is dropping.
  • Replying immediately when a thread is posted. On Reddit, comments posted in the first 60 seconds look bot-like and get downvoted. Mirgent's default 30-90 second human-like delay exists for this reason — don't disable it.

Three real lead-discovery campaigns

Concrete configurations that have produced measurable signups for actual users.

  1. Example 1: SaaS competitor capture

Keywords: 'alternatives to ', ' pricing too high', ' migration'. Platforms: Reddit (r/SaaS, r/Entrepreneur), Quora, Hacker News. Score floor: 70. Reply template: comparison-style mentioning your tool + 2 honest alternatives. Conversion: 1-3% of replies become trial signups.

  2. Example 2: Niche service-business outbound

Keywords: 'looking for [service] in [city]', 'recommendations for [service]'. Platforms: LinkedIn, Twitter, Quora. Score floor: 65. Reply: personalized; mention you do that exact thing + link to your case studies page. Conversion: 5-10% of replies become inbound DMs.

  3. Example 3: Content-creator audience capture

Keywords: 'how do I [skill]', 'best resources for [topic]'. Platforms: Reddit, Twitter, Quora. Score floor: 60 (lower because volume matters here). Reply: link to your free guide or YouTube video. Conversion: 5-15% of replies → click-through → email subscribers.

Lead Discovery FAQ

How long does it take to see results?

First leads land within hours of activating keywords. Conversions take longer — typical SaaS pattern is 2-4 weeks from first reply to first trial signup, because B2B buyers usually have a research delay between first contact and decision. Don't judge ROI in week one; judge it in month three.

Can I run lead discovery without the AI agent?

Yes. The keyword-monitoring layer doesn't require AI — it's a search aggregator that surfaces matching threads. AI scoring and drafting are optional add-ons. Many users start with manual review (Free plan) and upgrade to AI assistance after they understand which leads are worth their time.

What if my keywords return zero results?

Three causes: keywords too narrow, wrong platforms selected for your niche, or your category isn't discussed publicly. Try broader keywords first; if still zero, check Quora and Hacker News (long-tail topics). If your category is genuinely not discussed (rare niches), Lead Discovery may not be a fit — consider direct-outbound tooling instead.

How do I avoid getting my account banned?

Mirgent's defaults already protect you: per-platform daily caps (5-10 replies/day max), human-like 30-90 second delays, no duplicate-thread cooldowns, no identical-template reuse. Keep these defaults until you have 100+ replies of organic-looking history. Reddit specifically: never reply with a link in the first 24 hours of a new account; build karma first.

Can I export leads to my CRM?

Yes. CSV export is available on all paid plans. Native CRM integrations (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce) are on Pro+. For other CRMs, use Zapier — Mirgent has a 'New Lead' trigger that fires every time a lead is added to your inbox.
