Mastodon Integration

Mastodon scheduling across any instance

Mastodon's federation makes it powerful but most schedulers only support mastodon.social. Mirgent supports any instance, your own self-hosted server, mastodon.world, hachyderm.io, or wherever your audience lives. Same browser-session model.

Mastodon capabilities in Mirgent

Federation handled transparently, Mirgent treats each instance as a normal connection.

  • Post + content-warning + boost scheduling
  • Cross-instance support, mastodon.social, your own instance, niche servers
  • Hashtag automation tuned to Mastodon's culture (less stuffing than Twitter)
  • Reply-chain scheduling for thread-style posts
  • Lead discovery via federated hashtag search

Connect Mastodon

Tell Mirgent which instance you're on; the rest is the same flow.

  1. Note your instance URL

If you're on mastodon.social, that's your instance. Self-hosted: use your domain (e.g. social.example.com). Niche servers: use the server URL where your account lives.

  2. Log in normally + connect via Chrome extension

Open your instance URL, log in, install the extension. Mirgent inherits the session like every other platform.

  3. Schedule your first toot

Composer's Mastodon tab respects 500-char limit and supports content warnings (CW). Cross-post from Twitter for instant content fanout.

Mastodon tactics in 2026

Mastodon culture differs from Twitter, what works elsewhere bombs here, and vice versa.

  • Hashtag-first culture. Posts without hashtags barely federate; posts with 2-5 niche hashtags spread across instances.
  • Content warnings (CW) for off-topic / sensitive content are expected. Mirgent supports CW directly in the composer.
  • Avoid Twitter-style reply tagging. Mastodon's culture is more conversation-quote-based; let federation surface your replies organically.
  • Cross-post 60-70% from Twitter, Mastodon audiences notice and resent verbatim cross-posts at 100%.

Mastodon FAQ

Does Mirgent work on every Mastodon instance?

Yes, any standard Mastodon instance. The web interface is consistent across instances, so Mirgent's automation works the same on mastodon.social as on a self-hosted server. Niche forks of Mastodon (Pleroma, Akkoma) are not officially supported but often work.

Can I post to multiple instances?

Yes, each instance account is a separate connection. Helpful for cross-community posting or agency multi-client setups.

How is Mastodon different from Bluesky for me?

Mastodon: older, larger Fediverse, tech / privacy / leftist culture, federated. Bluesky: newer, more centralized, tech / SaaS / indie culture, AT Protocol. Different audiences; many users post to both.

Does Mastodon have lead discovery worth scanning?

Yes for technical and privacy-focused niches; less for general consumer markets. Federated hashtag search returns posts from across the network, so reach is broader than the 'instance size' metric suggests.
